Our
Service ProjectsIAJHSC State Service Project
Since 1982-83, the IAJHSC has chosen a worthy charity to support. At the first IAJHSC Executive Board meeting each fall since 1982-83, it has been the responsibility of the District Representatives to research a charity to recommend to the Board for adoption as the State Service Project for the year. Each of the District Representatives presented his/her charity to the entire Board. Next the Board voted to narrow the number of choices to three. The IAJHSC Executive Board then voted to choose the one charity which would become our State Service Project.

Feeding Illinois
Feeding Illinois is the association of eight Feeding America food banks that serve Illinois. Together, they provide food and other services to every county in Illinois through a vast network of member agencies and specialized feeding programs. One out of 12 Illinois residents, including 1 in 9 children, struggle with hunger–which is startling and avoidable; and Feeding Illinois members play a critical role in responding to this need.
Money Raised
IAJHSC Pop Tab Service Project
For many years the IAJHSC has supported the Ronald McDonald Houses in Illinois by asking each school attending convention to bring one gallon of pop tabs per delegate so that the tabs can be recycled. The tabs are collected at convention, weighed, and taken to a recycling center to be exchanged for money. The money is then donated to the Ronald McDonald Houses. Unfortunately, in the earlier years of this project, we did not keep any records of our donations. However, in more recent years, we have begun to keep those records. A big THANK YOU goes to everyone for popping tabs! The mission of the Ronald McDonald Houses is to create, find, and support programs that directly help the well-being of children. Our donation each year helps themt o achieve that very important mission.
