2021-2022 State Theme:
Get Hungry For Leadership!

Solve the Leadership Puzzl

The 2021 – 2022 District Representatives have chosen the new IAJHSC state theme for the coming year. Meeting several times over Zoom and working together through group chats, the District Representatives developed the theme, "Get Hungry For Leadership... We Need S'More Leaders Like You." They will be sharing their thoughts more thoroughly with everyone throughout the coming year and hopefully, at convention in April of 2022.

Variety of Illinois has been chosen as your 2021-2022 State Service Project! That means any money you raise for the IAJHSC State Service Project will allow Variety of Illinois to help children across Illinois have their dreams come true!!

What is Variety, you ask? Variety is a nonprofit organization that helps disabled children get the equipment that insurance doesn't pay for and the experiences to live a full, normal, and happy life!

63rd Annual IAJHSC Convention is a GO!!

February 16th, 2022  |  Posted by admin

Great news IAJHSC-land. The 63rd Annual IAJHSC State Convention will be held in-person on April 22-23, 2022, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. Registration for this event has already begun. The per delegate registration fee is $125. Our keynote speaker this year will be Mr. Scott Bachovich. He is a highly recognized, nationally known motivational speaker who focuses on developing the leadership potential of his audience. After a two-year hiatus from in-person conventions, this event will be one to really motivate and excite your student council to continue their journey to becoming the leaders they were meant to be.

All related convention information and forms can be found in the Members’ Area of this website. Forms are organized by those required, those recommended, and those which are optional. Most importantly, there is a Convention Timetable Snapshot to help guide you as you complete your convention forms, make your hotel reservations, and submit your council’s achievements for the IAJHSC Honor Council Award. Do not forget to submit the Outstanding Member Form for one of your student council members who has worked hard to be a positive role model for your school and community. Also, be sure to submit the Advisors’ Longevity Award Form. If you have been an advisor for a multiple of five (5) number of years, you will receive a special award and service pin at convention.

I would encourage you to look over this year’s State Service Project, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Illinois. This is a fantastic organization very worthy of our best efforts to support them with our State Service Project donation. All the information about this charity can be found here on our website, and the Remittance Form with other related things can be found in the Members’ Area for you to use as you raise funds to donate to this great cause.

Do not forget that the IAJHSC Summer Leadership Camp is planning on getting back to its normal schedule this coming summer by having a full week of leadership training and fun. Visit the Leadership Camp page of this website to learn all about summer camp. Links to application forms for Senior Staff and Junior Counselors are posted there for those interested if filling one of those positions. Summer leadership camp is an unbelievable experience for those students who attend. They have the opportunity to learn lots of new leadership skills and develop friendships which will last a lifetime. For those who attend, it is one of the most memorable experiences of their life.

On behalf of the entire IAJHSC Executive Board, I wish you the very best for the remainder of the school year. Be sure to contact your Adult Director or me if you have any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Bruce A. Small
