IAJHSC Advisor Achieves 40 Years of Service

Mary Sharp

Extra special congratulations and recognition goes to one of our advisors who has achieved a milestone which no one else in the IAJHSC has achieved before now. Mary Sharp from Bradley Central Middle School takes top honors for this year as well as for the history of the IAJHSC.  She is the very first to achieve the forty (40) year award pin.  Mary has not only been the advisor of her own school’s student council for all these years, but she has also served several terms on the IAJHSC Executive Board as the Mideast Adult Director. Mary is currently one of the longest serving IAJHSC Executive Board members. Read more about Mary and all of our advisor longevity awards »

IAJHSC Raises More Than $21,000 for Make-A-Wish® Illinois, our 2019-2020 IAJHSC State Service Project

Make-A-Wish Illinois

Congratulations, IAJHSC, we did it... we reached our goal! Way to go!

51 schools raised $21,097.07 for Make-A-Wish® Illinois, the recipient of our 2019-2020 IAJHSC State Service Project.

Make-A-Wish® Illinois is an organization that works with sick children from around the state. These children are able to request their wishes. These wishes could be as simple as wishing for a birthday party or as grand as a trip to Disney World.

Make-A-Wish® Illinois does not prioritize one wish over another; every wish request is fulfilled. Every year, around 1,200 children in Illinois are newly diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish® Illinois believes that these wishes are important in the overall care and treatment of these children. When kids get diagnosed with a serious condition, it can have a devastating effect on their mental health. Seeing their wishes fulfilled can boost their attitude and help treatments be more successful.

From the Executive Director

So What’s Next?

July 3rd, 2020  |  Posted by admin

Greetings, Fellow Covid Captives!

First and foremost, I sincerely hope all of you are surviving the challenges of our new daily and ever-changing routines and procedures as dictated by this horrible pandemic due to the coronavirus. The Executive Board and I heartily encourage you to practice your leadership skills, set the example, and keep a positive attitude as we all tackle this new normal in our lives and the lives of those we lead. Masks, hand sanitizer, and washing your hands are such small things to do in order protect the people you love, cherish, and lead! Success will only be found when everyone works together to keep everyone else safe.

As you know, the IAJSHC Executive Board had to cancel the Annual IAJHSC State Convention and the IAJHSC Summer Leadership Camp for health and safety reasons. We were as disappointed as all of you must have been, but there is nothing we do more important than the safety of our members.
