We have a lot to offer Student Councils... just see for yourself!

Publications

Receive monthly issues of the IAJHSC newsletter, Contact, with the latest IAJHSC news, project ideas from members and tips for running a successful student council.

Website

The IAJHSC website is a mechanism for distributing the latest information, newsletter articles, project ideas, and our association's calendar of events. It's also the perfect place for advisors to share concerns and get solutions to problems!

Advisor's Resource File

The Advisor's Resource File (ARF) is filled with ideas, activities, lessons plans and projects designed to motivate your council and keep it going!

Summer Leadership Camp

This week-long camp in the summer teaches your council members the skills necessary to run an effective council and become effective leaders.

Fall and Mid-Year District Leadership Workshops

These regional workshops provide quality leadership training for students and allow for the sharing of ideas and projects. A forum for adult advisors is provided as well.

Annual State Convention

Over 1,000 delegates from member schools across the state gather to celebrate leadership. Keynoted by nationally known speakers, the convention provides the opportunity for recognition of a great past year and a real "energizer" for the coming year. Project posters and scrapbooks from across the state provide a wealth of ideas for delegates to take back home with them!

Honor Council Award Program

The Honor Council award is a recognition program for councils who meet high standards in leadership, citizenship, scholarship, school service, community service and school spirit.

State Service Project

The State Service Project is a shared enterprise among our member schools. A charity or non-profit service group that serves the needs of children in some special way throughout the state of Illinois is chosen each year by the Executive Board and funds are raised by the member Student Councils to contribute to the cause.

Honor Roll of Outstanding Student Council Members

The award gives each member school the chance to give official recognition from the IAJHSC to one of its members who has worked particularly hard to help achieve Student Council's goals.

Advisor Longevity Award

The Advisor Longevity Award recognizes advisors for their years of service with pins and certificates for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years of dedication as a Student Council advisor.

With benefits like these—and many more—why wouldn't you want to be a member of IAJHSC?
