Make-A-Wish® Illinois Selected as the 2019-2020 IAJHSC State Service Project

Make-A-Wish Illinois

Make-A-Wish® Illinois is an organization that works with sick children from around the state. These children are able to request their wishes. These wishes could be as simple as wishing for a birthday party or as grand as a trip to Disney World.

Make-A-Wish® Illinois does not prioritize one wish over another; every wish request is fulfilled. Every year, around 1,200 children in Illinois are newly diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish® Illinois believes that these wishes are important in the overall care and treatment of these children. When kids get diagnosed with a serious condition, it can have a devastating effect on their mental health. Seeing their wishes fulfilled can boost their attitude and help treatments be more successful.

From the Executive Director

Let’s Strike Up the Band!!

August 26th, 2019  |  Posted by admin

As hard as it is to believe, it is time to get your student council orchestra back together and dig in to get things off to an allegro start with a good beat from the very beginning. With this year’s theme “Conduct the Leadership Symphony”, you should have no treble getting a great student council movement going at your school!

All IAJHSC Adult Directors are actively looking for workshop hosts for the coming year. Get in tune with the music and help set a great leadership tone for your district by volunteering to host either a fall or mid-year workshop at your school. All the instruments needed to do this can be found on the website and your Adult District Director is more than happy to help your council conduct a great experience for the other members of your district.

A major event coming up quickly is the annual Advisors’ Leadership Workshop. (more…)
