Camp Sheilah logo

IAJHSC has chosen the Sheilah A Doyle Foundation - Camp Sheilah as the recipient of the 2018 State Service Project. According to the foundation, they are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides support and assistance to children ages 7-17 whose parent, legal guardian, or sibling fell victim to homicide. Through their bereavement camp and their college scholarship program, they believe that they can transform a child’s tragedy into a bright future.

From the Executive Director

Good Leadership is No Mystery!

July 19th, 2018  |  Posted by admin

Summer Greetings from the IAJHSC!

If you are like me, you simply cannot believe that summer vacation over halfway done.  For most of you, the new school year begins in a little over a month from now.  Where does the time go?

We had a super successful IAJHSC Leadership Camp in June.  A very special thank you goes to all the advisors who sent delegates to camp, and an even more special thank you goes to the students who attended leadership camp.  I am confident that everyone will see the benefits of having gone to camp when school begins again in August.  Congratulations go to Mr. David Nenn, Camp Director, the senior staff, and all the JCs for running such a successful and meaningful event for our middle level developing leaders.  Your work and dedication to the IAJHSC is beyond compare and is appreciated more than you will ever know.

Our new District Representatives were very successful in choosing a very workable, dynamic theme for the coming year.  The new theme, “Follow the Clues to the Leader in You!” is the theme for the 2018 – 2019 school year.  I believe you will find this theme very workable and extremely easy to use with your council members when teaching and developing their leadership skills.  Great job, District Representatives!!!

Please be sure to visit this website often to catch up on the latest IAJHSC news and especially to check out the calendar of events for your district and for the Association.  The workshops for each district are added as we receive volunteers for hosts.  I have also posted all the contracted convention dates up through 2023 so that you can plan well in advance to be sure you can attend.

I wish you the very best for the rest of your summer vacation.  Don’t forget to be watching for the details and registration forms for the annual IAJHSC Advisors’ Leadership Workshop, which will be held at the Eastland Suites and Conference Center in Bloomington, IL, on September 20th and 21st.

Until then … Start planning your super sleuth events to help your council members “Follow the Clues to the Leader in You!”
